And, the Olympics are over!

Happening off-Campus: Eileen Gu won gold in the women’s ski halfpipe at the 2026 Winter Olympics, completing a grueling 16-day stretch competing across three disciplines. The victory gave her six medals in six career Olympic events, three gold and three silver, making her the most decorated freeski athlete ever. Gu overcame an early mistake in the final to post the two highest scores of the competition and lead a 1–2 finish for China. Her dominance, global fame, and decision to compete for China have made her a major ambassador for the sport. (AP)

Happening near Campus: More than 4,000 nurses at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital reached a tentative contract agreement that could end the city’s longest and largest nurses strike, pending a ratification vote. The deal, negotiated with help from a mediator and backed by the New York State Nurses Association, includes about a 12% pay increase over three years along with commitments to improve staffing, safety and health benefits. If approved, the agreement would bring the final group of striking nurses back to work after counterparts at Montefiore and Mount Sinai already settled. Union leaders called the tentative pact a hard-fought win following weeks of walkouts and an earlier contract proposal that nurses overwhelmingly rejected. (Gothamist)

Happening on Campus: Columbia is hosting their Annual Black History Month Blood Drive tomorrow from 10 am to 4 pm at Jerome Green Hall. The blood drive is in honor of Dr. Charles R. Drew, MD. More information can be found here.
