In accordance with this weekend’s Bwalentine’s Day festivities, Bwog offers a way to elevate your typical chocolate-covered strawberry!

This recipe was for about 30 shots, but you may need to adjust as necessary!

Ingredients:

  • Strawberries
  • Semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Milk
  • Strawberry Jell-O
  • Water

Directions:

  1. Wash and dry the strawberries.
  2. Cut the tops and bottoms of each strawberry straight across, creating a flat bottom so they can stand up straight.
  3. Using a small melon scooper (in my case, a knife and a spoon), hollow out the strawberries from the top end. Be careful not to cut/scoop so deeply that the strawberry “shot glass” maintains its structure.
  4. Put a ¼ cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips in a small bowl with about a tablespoon of milk.
  5. Microwave the chocolate chips and milk for 1 minute, stopping halfway through to stir and ensure they aren’t burning.
  6. Dip the bottom of each strawberry into the melted chocolate. Cover (or attempt to cover) each one halfway.
  7. Refrigerate for 20 minutes to allow the chocolate to begin to harden.
  8. Put the strawberry Jell-O packet into a bowl.
  9. Boil 1 cup of water, then add this to the Jell-O. Stir for 2 minutes until dissolved.
  10. Put ½ cup of cold water and ½ cup of vodka into the Jell-O. Stir for 1 minute.
  11. Pour the Jell-O vodka mixture into each strawberry “shot glass.” Try to fill as much as possible without spilling.
  12. Refrigerate for about 4 hours for the Jell-O to harden.

Although you will surely need at least three of these shots to feel any buzz, you now have a beautiful Valentine’s Day treat! Enjoy!
