In accordance with this weekend’s Bwalentine’s Day festivities, Bwog offers a way to elevate your typical chocolate-covered strawberry!
This recipe was for about 30 shots, but you may need to adjust as necessary!
Ingredients:
- Strawberries
- Semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Milk
- Strawberry Jell-O
- Water
Directions:
- Wash and dry the strawberries.
- Cut the tops and bottoms of each strawberry straight across, creating a flat bottom so they can stand up straight.
- Using a small melon scooper (in my case, a knife and a spoon), hollow out the strawberries from the top end. Be careful not to cut/scoop so deeply that the strawberry “shot glass” maintains its structure.
- Put a ¼ cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips in a small bowl with about a tablespoon of milk.
- Microwave the chocolate chips and milk for 1 minute, stopping halfway through to stir and ensure they aren’t burning.
- Dip the bottom of each strawberry into the melted chocolate. Cover (or attempt to cover) each one halfway.
- Refrigerate for 20 minutes to allow the chocolate to begin to harden.
- Put the strawberry Jell-O packet into a bowl.
- Boil 1 cup of water, then add this to the Jell-O. Stir for 2 minutes until dissolved.
- Put ½ cup of cold water and ½ cup of vodka into the Jell-O. Stir for 1 minute.
- Pour the Jell-O vodka mixture into each strawberry “shot glass.” Try to fill as much as possible without spilling.
- Refrigerate for about 4 hours for the Jell-O to harden.
Although you will surely need at least three of these shots to feel any buzz, you now have a beautiful Valentine’s Day treat! Enjoy!
