Faculty House recently unveiled a new breakfast buffet, and boy, do we have thoughts.

Faculty House has long been known as the location with the best lunch, but now, it seems to have expanded to breakfast and dinner.

As soon as you walk into the fourth floor of Faculty House, or the first floor depending on the day, you are met with a buffet of egg muffins, croissants, French toast, and fresh fruit cups. Faculty House is set up as a “Pick 4” method, where you can either sit and eat or grab and go. Personally, I decided to sit and savor my meal with the views of Faculty House.

Although I am not a croissant morning person myself, the baked goods did look particularly appetizing, though I must admit I chose a different path.

When I first bit into that egg muffin, I saw a whole new world available to me. A crisp, garlicky crust enwrapped a fluffy, cheesy egg, balancing each other so well that it feels like an obvious pairing. Matching that along with the fruit cup consisting of honeydew, cantaloupe, and pineapple, it was a breakfast I could go back to again and again.

Except for the parfait. The vanilla yogurt was suffocated by the blueberry compote and the mushy raisin granola. It was entirely too sweet and lacked the balance of a proper parfait. It is something I will not be trying again.

And, lucky for me, I don’t have to! When I brought my friend back, I navigated him through the best dishes, creating, what he says, “is the best on-campus breakfast.” Though not something he can wake up for every day (even if they stay open till 11 am now). Now, every time I go back to Faculty House, I can enjoy my egg muffin and fresh fruit, with that combination being worth the $16 meal swipe alone.
