The parks are up.
Happening off-Campus: Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said that Prince Andrew should be removed from the British royal line of succession because of his “deplorable” actions and past ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Although Andrew was stripped of his royal titles in 2024, he still remains eighth in line to the throne. Carney argued that even though Andrew is far down the line, the principle of accountability means he should also be formally removed from succession. In the current order, King Charles III’s heir is Prince William, followed by William’s three children. (AP)
Happening near Campus: Zohran Mamdani announced a $50 million plan to renovate 10 parks across New York City, focusing on neighborhoods that have not received major upgrades in over 20 years. The improvements, part of the Community Parks Initiative, will add new recreation facilities and green space and are expected to benefit more than 100,000 residents. The parks are located in historically underserved areas across all five boroughs. The announcement comes as Mamdani faces criticism for proposing cuts to the city’s parks budget despite previously promising to increase funding. (Gothamist)
