The NYC Marathon changes course!

Happening off campus: Yesterday, President Trump signed an agreement with Denmark and Greenland with the goal of strengthening security in the region. Trump has repeatedly made known his aim of acquiring Greenland as a US territory, so this agreement may bring hope for deescalating tensions. He did not answer questions on the subject of whether he still intends to make Greenland part of America. (AP)

Happening near campus: The New York City Marathon will be changing its course for the first time in 15 years. The slight change is intended to reduce both the number of turns taken by marathoners and the impact on the Mott Haven community in the Bronx. Instead of looping around East 140th Street, marathoners will now stay on Alexander Avenue heading north past 138th Street, turn left onto Third Avenue on 141st Street, and then turn towards the Madison Avenue Bridge. Happening on campus: The Barnard Center for Research on Women (BCRW), the Institute for the Study of Sexuality and Gender (ISSG) at Columbia, and the Department of Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (WGSS) at Barnard are hosting an open house today in Schermerhorn 754.
