Tragedy struck Pakistan yesterday when a splinter group of the Taliban, Jamat-ul-Ahrar, claimed responsibility for a bombing of a Christian Easter celebration in Lahore’s Gulshan Iqbal Park. This isn’t the first attack against Christian groups in Pakistan. (CNN)
Times Square was evacuated yesterday after a suspicious package prompted fears of a potential bombing. The NYPD bomb squad, upon opening the cordoned off package, discovered it “was just garbage.” God only knows how much the days of Times Square tourists were thrown off. (ABW)
In other riling news, Mayor de Blasio promised to sign a bill introduced which will ban smokeless tobacco at sports arenas in New York City. The ban, which prohibits substances like chewing tobacco, will extend especially to baseball players, both those in the Yankees and Mets as well as those on visiting teams. (NY Daily News)
