Up next, we bring you our favorite buff Bwogger Josh Dillion with his dose of wisdom about bathrooms and drinking Red Bull for the taste.
Name, School, Major, Hometown: Josh Dillon, Columbia College, Computer Science-Statistics, *somewhere in Connecticut*
Claim to Fame: I’ve slept in a tent with my best friends, on a toilet somewhere on 103rd, in an alcove in Butler 409 and inside a bathtub in Nussbaum. Three of those four times I was naked.
Where are you going? “Making my way downtown // Walking fast // Faces pass // And I’m home bound”
Aka Brooklyn after a quick escape to the cold woods of Canada. I don’t know which bears scare me more.
What are 3 things that you learned at Columbia and would like to share with the Class of 2020?
1) The men’s bathroom on the second floor of Pupin has a second PRIVATE bathroom inside of it. Like the Room of Requirements, it will come to you in your time of need.
2) Your life does not start after Columbia; it starts now. Don’t sacrifice your health and happiness in the hopes that it pays off one day. There will always be another paper to write or another problem set due, but the sun doesn’t shine every day so take the time to enjoy it.
3) You will learn more from your mistakes than you could from anyone’s (including my) advice, so always try things out yourself. People will always try to give you advice but it is your choice if you want to follow it or not. This will be one of the most rewarding and difficult times of your life; let it be.
“Back in my day…” The Heights let you in with a Columbia ID, FroSci professors stripped more on stage, and living in McBain was condemnation to death by rats.
Justify your existence in 30 words or fewer. I drink Red Bull for the taste, not the caffeine.
What was your favorite class at Columbia? Statistical Machine Learning, taught by John Cunningham, was one of the most difficult courses I took at Columbia. It was also the first class that made me love mathematics, higher dimensions and well-tuned models. It’s whispered that you can find the answers to the exams in Professor Cunningham’s eyes, so sit in the front and gaze deeply.
Would you rather give up oral sex or cheese? I once ate a bowl’s worth of shredded Parmesan cheese for dinner.
One thing to do before graduating: Wake up early one weekday morning to sit on Low steps and watch the sun rise. If you time it just right, you will be the only person on campus. Trust me; this is tantamount to a spiritual experience.
Any regrets? I regret not grabbing dinner with every person that I’ve ever told “we should grab dinner next week.” If you are one of those people and are reading this, text me ASAP and lets make it happen.
But as for regrets at Columbia, I can honestly say I have none. There were things I didn’t get to do that I wanted to try, but that was only because I had some other awesome experience in their place. I wouldn’t change a thing about my four years here.

@Rachel Deal Thx
@PAPER TOPIC IDEA The dominant strains of philosophical thought in Senior Wisdom responses to “any regrets” (stoicism seems popular) and what that says about the philosophical zeitgest in the millenial age.
@Anonymous My only regrets are not seizing the means of production and not eliminating rape culture
