Happening in the World: 8,000 pounds of supplies were launched to the International Space Station Friday night, including a 360-degree virtual reality camera so those of us stuck on Earth can experience spacewalks in VR. Also launched? A high-tech toilet with a suctioning funnel and seat to make trips to the bathroom easier for astronauts. (CNN)
Happening in the US: After a month of gridlock regarding a $2.2 trillion Covid-19 relief proposal from House Democrats, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi voiced her optimism that President Donald Trump’s positive test result will help push the proposal through. Congressional aides and Washington policy analysts don’t think it’ll turn the tide. (NYTimes)
Happening in NYC: During the Ask the Mayor Segment on WNYC on Friday, Mayor Bill De Blasio evaded condemning the NYPD for documented human rights violations following a peaceful protest in Mott Haven. De Blasio stated that “we need a complete investigation where everyone involved who is pertinent is interviewed and that’s what the Department of Investigation is doing.” Civil Rights Lawyer Gideon Orion Oliver represents 50 people from the brutal event, none of whom have been contacted by the DOI for an interview.
