Happening in the world: A train derailed in a tunnel in eastern Taiwan, leaving at least four dead and 20 injured. The train was carrying roughly 350 people, of whom at least 80 have been evacuated; rescue efforts were still underway as of 11:26 pm EDT (Reuters).

Happening in the US: Workers in a Baltimore vaccine factory messed up big time by accidentally putting ingredients from the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine into the Johnson & Johnson one-shot vaccine. The mistake forced the factory to throw out 15 million contaminated doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, delaying US distribution (NYT).

Happening in NYC: Storied punk and drag venue The Pyramid Club announced on Instagram that it was closing for good; it had not been open for over a year due to the pandemic. Opening in 1979, the club hosted early gigs for iconic bands such as Nirvana, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Butthole Surfers, and GWAR; drag legends including RuPaul also performed there (Gothamist).
