Bwog turns 16 today! But how exactly did the birth go down in 2006?
On a fateful day, 16 years ago, The Blue and White was lying in a hospital bed in labor. Contractions were occurring less than five minutes apart, and the nurse had just left to retrieve more ice chips. Yet, The Blue and White was becoming impatient; when would this baby come out? No amount of pushing, praying, or probing would do. As such, the Blue and White had to think a little more creatively in order to induce labor.
The magazine had placed green grapes and Tostitos Hint Of Lime tortilla chips all around the hospital room—cravings that had defined their pregnancy. There were issues of the magazine strewn about the room, along with prominent newspapers. If you ask the doctors, they’ll deny it, but Bwog knows that the consequential combination of all four items spurred labor and allowed the blog to emerge into the world and provide a niche missing in the Columbia undergraduate community.
The blog’s first thought was, “who was to break the news of the birth?” At that moment, Bwog sat straight up as if struck by lightning. Shitposts, events, news, and features? They’d do it all. The blog had ambitions and Columbia wasn’t ready for them.
Happy Birthday, Bwog! What an illustrious career Bwog has had so far. Cheers to many more years of shitposting, breaking news, writing features, and covering events. To commemorate this joyous occasion, here are 16 posts—one from every birthday Bwog has had, including its birth.

@Anonymous Blue and White used to be a great print magazine of Columbia College and has turned into a negative and gossip blog for Barnard students.
