Happening in the World: Poland’s Prime Minister Donald Tusk offered to help US actor and director Jesse Eisenberg land the new James Bond role. Eisenberg recently gained Polish citizenship when earlier this month Poland’s president conferred the country’s citizenship on him. Eisenberg appeared on NBC’s The Tonight Show and mentioned that the top story the day after he received his citizenship was that Poland now requires all male citizens to participate in military training. Tusk responded with a video on X saying that the training is voluntary, but that he could receive training to help him land the James Bond role! (AP)
Happening in the US: Kash Patel, the FBI director, pushes ahead with a plan to decentralize the agency’s command structure and split the bureau into three regions. This will cause the top agents in 52 field offices around the country to no longer answer to the deputy director and instead report to three branch directors at headquarters who will be in charge of the East, West, and Central regions. The FBI offices in New York, Washington, and Los Angeles will continue to answer to the deputy director. This model is being established to address administrative relapses and to help efforts to deter terrorism. There has been criticism over the decision to alter the hierarchy of the FBI and questions raised over the thoroughness of the plan. (NYT)
Happening in NYC: Othello on Broadway, starring Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal, is one of the most popular shows to go see at the moment. Some orchestra seats are now selling at the expensive cost of $921, helping the show to break box office records. Just last week the show grossed $2.8 million, which is more than any nonmusical has ever made in one week on Broadway. It is possible for ticket prices to fall since the show has not even begun its run yet, starting on March 23 at the Ethel Barrymore Theater and lasting for 15 weeks. (NYT)
