Climate and Environmental Justice: A Discussion of NYC’s Plans

  • Monday, April 21, 5:30 to 8:30 pm.

  • This event addresses health-related issues that arise from climate change, as well as how these issues overwhelmingly affect low-income communities and communities of color. This event will investigate how the government is addressing these health concerns and how change can be made on a local and global scale. 

Tech Focus: Distinguished Speaker Kara Hurst (BC ‘93) 

  • Tuesday, April 22, 5 to 6:15 pm.

  • What does it mean to work on sustainability at a large and often controversial company like Amazon? Join fellow students for a Tech Focus event with Distinguished Guest Speaker Kara Hurst (BC ‘93), Chief Sustainability Officer, Amazon. 

Barnard Earth Day Celebration & Sustainability Fair

  • Tuesday, April 22, 2 to 6 pm.
  • Futter Field. No registration required!
  • Hosted by the Barnard Student Government Association, the Barnard Earth Day Festival is an interactive event for students to engage with sustainability clubs and events. This event will feature speeches and performances, a book and clothing swap, food, and more! Although this event is primarily for Barnard students, all members of the Barnard and Columbia community are welcome! This event is a fun way to relax and explore sustainability. 

Sounding The Ocean 

  • Wednesday, April 23, 6 to 8 pm.

  • In a fascinating blend of music and science, this event explores the sounds of the Pacific Ocean in a tumultuous moment of rapid climate change as well as undersea exploration and mining. How does this relate to indigenous histories and practices? Attend and find out!
