Now that The Summer I Turned Pretty has ended, I have a gaping hole where that show should be. What shall replace it?
When the 3 am EST release was announced, I was in immediate shock. As a show that’s quite literally based on the East Coast, you’d think they would have some more respect for us.
While The Summer I Turned Pretty became immensely popular in its third season, this story about a girl and two brothers has been my guilty pleasure since before college. If you weren’t there 2 years ago for the most devastating Bonrad moment of them all…
But, with a 3 am EST release, I knew I had two options—suffer through the day without social media (ugh, so hard I know) or wake up at/stay up till 3 am.
So, 3 am is what I did. Every week I waited till Wednesday. How else will they torture Conrad? How much more will they push Jeremiah onto us? Today, I made the silliest decision I’ve ever made, though. I only let myself have 1 hour of sleep.
It was stupid, I know, but it’s the finale. And I have tons of homework to do (thanks to procrastination). Yet, that one hour of sleep was no match for my need to procrastinate. I only started the episode at 3:40 am. After talking to a friend until then, I stayed up until 7 am watching the show, reading reviews, and then watching two episodes of Gen V.
Right now, I am paying for my decision. A Liz’s coffee can’t fend off my need to sleep. The worst part is that I actually have stuff to do today—I have meetings until 10:30 pm. Every time I close my eyes, I feel like I could just fall asleep on the spot.
All in all, staying up till 3 am, waking up at 3 am, or running on a mere 1 hour of sleep + 2.5 hours more isn’t the best idea. At least I avoided spoilers.
Also, I will be staying up till 3 next week. Just for you, Gen V.
