Russia continues their invasion of Ukraine, a challenge to NYC gun restrictions is blocked, and Morningside Lights returns.

Happening off-Campus: Russia launched an overnight aerial attack on Ukraine. At least 3 people have been killed and more than 30 people have been injured, according to Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy. This is the latest attack in Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which began in 2022. (BBC)

Happening near Campus: A challenge seeking a preliminary injunction to enforcement of the Concealed Carry Improvement Act, which declared Times Square a “Gun Free Zone,” barred firearms in other “sensitive” areas of New York, and introduced restrictions on gun carrying, was rejected on Friday by the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. The panel decided that the restrictions likely do not violate the Second Amendment. (ABC 7)

Happening on Campus: This year’s Morningside Lights procession will take place today, beginning at 8 pm at 116th Street and Morningside Avenue and continuing to College Walk. This year’s theme is “TIMEFRAME 1965, a celebration of the images, icons, and influences of the year 1965.” (Morningside Lights)

Field Note: This weekend I have to actually start writing my thesis… hopefully it goes well!
