A story of thievery, pointed insults, and newfound fame.

A couple of weeks ago, I was scrolling on Sidechat, and an influx of SNU hate posts came up on my feed. I didn’t think much of it (fraternity hate isn’t out of the norm), but after seeing almost ten similar posts saying something along the lines of “SNU Sucks”, I looked further at the replies of these posts to find out the truth.

Allegedly, two boxes of TruFru products were accidentally delivered to SNU when the boxes were meant for Delta Gamma on the same block. SNU members (again, allegedly) ate all the food in said boxes (none of which were meant for them). 

This meant war on SNU. Insults and SNU hate were being downpoured on Sidechat at a consistent and heavy volume. Now, whether these Sidechat posts were written by DG members or not is unknown, yet heavily suspected by some (although we should remember it’s an anonymous app where literally anyone can post). After the spew of insults hurled back and forth on Sidechat, I thought that the story would end there.

Boy, was I wrong. A couple of days later, SNU decided to come out with a TikTok making fun of the situation, deeming themselves “TruFruholics”, with their TruFru obsession on video accumulating over twenty-six thousand views. DG took advantage of blasting this situation on TikTok and collaborated with SNU on one of their posts. What followed on DG’s TikTok were multiple videos of DG members stealing SNU’s fraternity composite (which now has over 152K views!), and following trends like “Rare aesthetic: Sigma Nu steals two boxes of TruFru from you”. 

A conglomeration of TikToks back to back made their way to our screens: DG made multiple response videos, and SNU followed their lead on their recently made TikTok account “TheSnupies”. A couple of these videos were hashtagged with #trufrueffect, submitting them into TruFru’s contest to win monetary prizes. 

This contest of TruFru would pick finalists and put them on TruFru’s page with the most liked video by October 3rd, getting monetary prizes up to ten thousand dollars. A TikTok from both SNU and DG ended up being #trufrueffect finalists in their competition, but the winners of the competition are still unannounced. 

TruFru themselves even made a Tiktok responding to all the drama, with a mock reporter-style panel: They confirmed that the two boxes were not sent to SNU, but were somehow accidentally delivered there. They also made sure to note that they are not officially affiliated with Delta Gamma or Sigma Nu. 

Funnily enough, it has recently come out that some TruFru products have been recalled due to containing metal fragments, so I guess no one will be having TruFru anytime soon…
