Bwogger goes around observing people near campus during the weekend of love.

Valentine’s Day is a widely debated holiday, ranging from people instinctively filled with hatred for it to others over the moon all day. I am extremely fond of this holiday; I mean, I just adore the concept of a holiday just for loving… so I was happy to write about my observations of how people were feeling about it this year!

  • “I mean, we’re not together, but it’s Valentine’s Day, like that means something, right?” – Guy in Milano Market with a bouquet of flowers.
  • “I think it’s very ominous that the day before Valentine’s Day is Friday the 13th.”
  • “My mom says it’s a fake holiday like Mother’s Day but she still expects a gift for both.” – Said in the midst of two girls debating on a couch about the validity of Valentine’s.
  • “That’s why I got broken up with on Valentine’s Day last year.” “Oh my God, I did toooo!” – Two girls in Ferris, I hope your V-Day this year was much better than the last :(
  • “If I see more couples in that restaurant, I’m gonna kill everyone.” – Guy talking to his two girl friends on the way to Amity.
  • “Some guy described me as ‘alright’ before Valentine’s Day, and it honestly warmed my heart at the time.” – Girl talking to her friend at a party (Oh my god??)
  • “My best friend’s birthday is Valentine’s Day, so I get to post her every time!” – Overheard a girl say this to her friend. It is very cute to me.

I honestly did not see much this weekend, but here were some things I observed:

  • Lion Dine had floating hearts all over the website, and it made all my friends gasp in awe, so that was special to me, personally.
  • Literally an infinite amount of Instagram story posts. Mainly by girlfriends, definitely not enough boyfriends posting in return!
  • Really, really good free brownies at a bar. Might’ve been my personal highlight of this weekend, honestly.

I love this holiday, and I personally think it’s impossible not to love love. Whether you’re like me or the opposite, I hope you had a fulfilling Valentine’s Day, or at least an entertaining one! Love is super cool!
