I can’t believe my day without it.
This is my second year at Columbia, and I feel like I’ve tried every nearby restaurant and dining hall. I was almost desperate to find a place where I could eat. I don’t want another burger or salad from Ferris. I have had enough with those. But at the start of this semester, a burrito appears. No beans. No rice. Just a tortilla, cheese, my choice of protein, peppers and onions, and corn and tomato salsa. That’s it. Lunch, sorted.
When you walk into DT, there is no need to worry about what to choose. Every new selection brings you a new flavor. At the end of my lectures, I can call my friends to meet at DT to pick up a burrito. We pick up our burritos, find a spot on the lawn, and eat in the sunshine.
This is what I love about DT. It makes seeing my friends easy and gives me room to breathe when life feels overwhelming. For half an hour, there’s nowhere else I need to be and nothing I need to figure out. I’m grateful for those half hours and the people who made them feel like home.
