Up Late with Jeff Julian is now on the great aggregator of human creativity. So the genius of the Jester’s master comedian is now available for all to love. They even have the commercials for the more market-driven audiences. The intro sequence, in its swinging glory, is below.

@jeff julian is my baby daddy
@jeff julian i’m guessing his inspirations are david wain, michael ian black, and michael showalter?
his work reminds of what they’ve already done in Stella.
@Melvil Dewey FUCK GOLD! USE PAPER MONEY!
@award winner for line of the night not enough people laughed at.
the problem with the on-campus improv groups is they’re too bloated. there’s funny kids in both, but they each have way too many (bad) members to sustain any sort of goodness for longer than a scene or two. i think if you took the top two or three from each, you wouldn’t get something so embarassing. or maybe not.
@also they just seem funnier to themselves than to other people.
it’s like watching a big circle jerk.
@In other news I absolutely hate it when guys grow their hair out but constantly have to flick their head to the side to keep it out of their faces. WHY NOT JUST CUT YOUR DAMN HAIR. See: Chris Wang
@Chris Wang: I thought he just had a tic.
huh.
@Agreed about the improv troupes, but they are not on the video…so everyone chill out. Having seen it live, I thought show was hilarious (the commercials especially).
And for the record, Jeff is a cool and funny guy, but the show was a collaborative effort between a bunch of people, not his ego project. So whether you loved it or hated it, redirect your praise/venom away from that tender-loving, candy-eating ass clown.
@4 thumbs down I just watched the first segment on youtube. I wanted to hate it…and I did.
@Professor Xavier Four thumbs? You must be a mutant.
JOIN MY SCHOOL!
I forgot to tell you where it was.
@Seriously Who the this ass clown? I am a junior and I have never heard of him.
@stop the presses we have a junior!
@jester Jeff Julian in real life is a really nice guy who eats mostly candy. He’s pretty much un-hateable.
If the show’s audience viewing it in the Black Box hated it, I would believe that it was a bad show, but they did not. Performances have much different timing and audience involvement than TV shows, and TV show tapings that are intended to be taped shows are different than performances framed as tv show tapings. It’s understandable that this could look unfunny as a TV show because you don’t have the full setting.
If you don’t like the commercials, then there’s definitely a real difference there.
@improv agreed, the improv groups at columbia are just terrible… entirely cringe worthy and awful and it hurts to watch them stand up and embarrass themselves on stage. please can someone ban them now for their own good.
@i agree I hate it when creative peopl do interesting tthings with their lives.
@indeed improv can be creative and interesting. Fruit Paunch and Sweeps, however, consistently demonstrated a capacity for neither.
The only people that ever watch them are
a) dutiful friends,
b) friends of dutiful friends asked to attend out of companionship or sympathy,
c) otherwise forced to watch them as a consequence of attending another, usually better, show – such as Jeff Julian’s.
@alexw No, I’m Alex Weinberg.
And Jeff *is* a tender lover.
@I I love Jeff.
He is a fantastic comedian and tender lover.
@you you must be alex weinberg. hahahaha.
@dewey skit the show was pretty good, but the highlight from what I’ve seen so far is the Dewey skit:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPKJm7zeL2s
it’s at 6:16 in that video (the third of 7)…it’s awesoeme.
@THE INFORMATOR Notes:
The improv groups (Fruit Paunch & Sweeps) served as “guests.” Their segments are not included in the seven part video opus.
Also, Jeff Julian plays a character named Jeff Julian. Although the real Jeff Julian served as one of the shows writers, the character he plays is not himself. See: Stephen Colbert.
@fence-sitter the show was neither as bad nor as great as people are making it out to be.
At times, Jeff Julian made me cry tears of joy, but honestly the improv made me want to wrap myself in barbed wire and roll down a hill.
@Hey this was funny. good job all.
@alexw I am very proud of this show. If you have any hate to dispense, please direct it towards me.
@ugh Please can the Jester just shut down. You guys make everybody who isn’t one of your friends miserable.
@The King of Spain Haters, I disown you from my great estate.
@jesters um, comments 13, 14, 15, 17, 18. the positive ones.
@come on too much hating. This stuff is pretty funny, especially the commercials. They’re really professional looking.
I don’t think people get that this is supposed to be a “taping” of a late night show, hence the milling around and the hype-man. If you’ve been to a taping of Conan or Colbert it’s very much like this.
@YEAH DON’T HATE, FELLATIATE!
YA’LL HATERS CAN BLOW ME!
@Pretty cool idea but this show looks like it was painfully unfunny. Guess you “had to be there.” Glad I wasn’t.
@hey man don’t hate, congratulate. I “got there” and it was pretty hilarious. The plant wrangler was awesome.
@HEY IF YOU WANT TO SEE THE COLOR YELLOW YOU CAN CLICK THE TRACK BUTTON AND YOU WILL SEE A LOT OF YELLOW
@GUESS WHAT I COMMENT FROM SAME COMPUTER

@man fuck all y’all
@jeff julian is fancy
@Lewis Black Saw this on youtube last week. It’s clever, at times, but I really wouldn’t go so far to call any of it funny. More of the stupid immature end, to be honest.
@III dont know about the Jester’s magazine (do they still make it?) but I thought this was a great show esp since i got in for free
@hahah http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLiq68z50Eg
dude loves telescopes
@Confused I don’t understand. Can someone please tell me why this kid is considered funny?
@ummmm who considers him funny? ive heard his name mentioned once on campus and it was to declare how corny he is
@heads up the first part of the first video is shitty everyone was filing it. it’s before the show actually “starts”. a prologue if you will
