Happening in the world: If you thought this past election was a disaster, it’s time to feel bad for the French. With their presidential election coming up soon, signs point to another nail-biter. Center-right candidate François Fillon is taking the heat from media that are attacking him for giving his wife hundreds of thousands of euros for a “fake job” that she never did. With signs that he may drop out of the race, Marine Le Pen might be a frontrunner in the race. Le Pen’s far-right political stance echoes Trump’s politics. (NY Times)

Happening in NYC: The FDNY is taking steps to make their firefighters more diverse. Their recent recruitment campaign now is trying to appeal to women and Asian Americans, who allegedly represent less than 2% of the fire department’s firefighters.

Happening on campus: Today from 12-1:30 in IAB there will be a talk called “Subnational Protest in Russia Post-2012: Identifying Patterns of Street Contention in the Five Years Since Russia’s Winter of Protest.”  Learn about the talk and more things happening today here!
