Name, school: Arianne Richard, CC
Claim to fame: CC 2010 Valedictorian, Columbia University Dance Marathon (CUDM) 2010 Co-Overall Chair
Where are you going? National Institute of Health, Bethesda, MD
Three things you learned at Columbia:
1. The 1 train splits from the 2 and 3 trains at 96th street. (Learned during orientation week freshman year)
2. Beautiful, old classrooms and libraries are inspirational.
3. There is always an exception to the rule (be it Schrödinger’s equation or the housing lottery).
Justify your existence in 30 words or fewer: Cynical answer: I was born and have survived 22 years of natural selection.
Not-so-cynical answer: I smile at people. Résumé-ish answer: CUDM: I dance to stop childhood HIV/AIDS.
Would you rather give up oral sex or cheese? I can’t win with this one.
Any advice for the Class of 2014? Change your mind as often as you wish.
Any regrets? Not finding the gluten-free refrigerator in John Jay until second semester freshman year.

@Anonymous Arianne is a goddess.
@Anonymous Arianne, you are beautiful. And smart. I want to marry you.
@anon she’s attractive, so who cares if you think she’s boring
@Anonymous senior wisdom suggestion: RAJAT ROY.
@Anonymous boooooooooooring
@WTF You can make suggestions for Senior Wisdom? ROSS. RAMONE.
@TOO LONG didnt read.
@Anonymous Yess!! Scott St. Marie!! <3 <3
@Eliza Send his email to eliza@bwog.net, please!
@wow This is so boring… I guess you can’t develop personality inside Butler
@will i got a 4.07 in a legit major without ever holing myself up. and i’m not a genius. don’t stereotype people.
@CC 2011 Bwog please do Scott St. Marie!!!! He graduated a semester early so could give us his views on “the real world”. Also, he’s awesome.
@grr bo-ring
@senior Bwog, what happened to all the interesting questions Senior Wisdoms used to have? Favorite controversy? Percent of seniors thought to be virgins? Columbia memory that best exemplifies overall experience? If you’re going to get rid of old questions, at least replace them with new ones that are interesting!
Anyway, Arianne seems cool.
@prefrosh Hey, just wanted to say I’m loving Bwog and especially the Senior Wisdoms. Thanks to the seniors and the Bwog writers for sharing their experiences! Really makes me so excited to join the CU community. I’ll be Barnard 2014, and the only thing that’s really, really bothered me is how every post on here that even slightly mentions BC gets turned into an argument over selectivity. Is this actually reflective of what the real-life relationship is like? I honestly felt none of this hostility during welcome weekend.
@it's not indicative of real life. don’t worry. :)
@Surfin' UWS It’s nothing compared to how we feel about overeager pre-froshers being all up in our business before their time.
Hintity-hint.
@prefrosh haha, well she is giving ‘advice to the class of 2014’, isn’t she?
@Anonymous every comment you make is stupid
@wait haven’t you graduated? :|
@wow I am sure you are nice, but you have got a lot to learn–like that Bwog is full of snarky commenters who will not take kindly to your post.
And…let the hating begin
@prefrosh woot. i love being roasted while raw. i didn’t mean this as a complaining post, just wondering. i love both schools regardless of their internet personalities.
@actually there is a lot of this shit that happens throughout the year… in real life too…there’s a reason every satire-related event at Columbia revolves around degrading Barnard
@don't worry i am sure that even the most vicious barnard-hating bwog commentators have at least one barnard friend. people bitch about the relationship on both sides of broadway, but its really not a problem when you’re here
@don't worry bwog is not real life. i mean, columbia’s not real life either, but bwog isn’t even real columbia life. despite the jokes and hostility, we columbians don’t really treat barnard girls like second-class citizens. you’ll be part of (whatever passes for) community here even though you’re not a columbian. and don’t feel bad about reading bwog, since the article was supposedly directed at your class.
@suefan I fell asleep a few times trying to finish reading this.
@Anonymous she’s a chem major, i didn’t expect any long-winded philosophical remarks
@chemist She’s not a chem major, she’s biochem. And way to just assume that all chemists are boring/can’t be philosophical
@2010er Anyone have a spare graduation ticket lying around? If you can help me out, that’d be awesome.
recaptha: “the karma” Haha.
@Uhh..... I’d hit that.
…cheesy
..haha recaptcha = exorcisms whatever
…apparently so…..
@wouldnt you have to have kids to “survive” natural selection. Otherwise you just havent died for 22 years
@Anonymous touche
@hmm was she purposely trying to come across as aloof or is she actually this boring in real life?
@Anonymous Bwog, please do Michael Williams if you haven’t already. :)
@Um... If I could give this 17 thumbs up I would do so, but instead I will just say PLEASE!
@Yes Yes, and get Whitney Green and Isabel Breoer and Sarah Weiss and Jeff Spear and Jon Bell and Rich Brown.
@amen to captain luc richard brown
@OH GOD JON BELL. ask him how he gets away with so much from columbia. examples: stealing a TV from LLC and selling it within the LLC, taking advantage of the Gateway lab resources because he works there, …so much more.
he’s so covertly evil and gets away with it.
i need wisdom.
@MIKEY DUBS MICHAEL WILLIAMS!!!
@Eliza Awesome, if you’ve got suggestions for senior wisdoms, please send their emails to eliza@bwog.net. Thanks!
@kinda boring…
@yep but what do you expect from the valedictorian, whether she has a life or not.
@Anonymous she’s going to save the world someday, haha. unfortunately, dancing for AIDS now would do little to find a cure.
@... She seems really sweet so I don’t want to this to seem like a bash, but its funny that she doesn’t have anything to say about the War on Fun. Sounds about right considering how much time she probably spent working to be valedictorian.
@Anonymous This wasn’t very inspirational or interesting. =(
@Anonymous where is the gluten free refrigerator in jj?
@me I feel like she meant Hewitt…?
Or is it that well hidden?
@corefoods corefoods behind the register in jj’s has gluten free stuff, and a big cooler of more gluten free stuff.
