Not all of those fresh-faced idealists wandering Lerner are prospies. Some of them are running for CCSC! Here’s a handy guide to where they’re going head to head:
4pm in Party Space — 2014 Class Council
4:45pm in Party Space — 2013 Class Council
5:30pm in Party Space — University Senate
6:15pm in Party Space — Executive Board (CCSC interviews with Bwog, Spec debate recap)
9pm in West Ramp Lounge — 2012 and Student Services Representative
A great debate via Wikimedia Commons

@Non-CCSC Damn…all this hate towards Mario. Let’s be real, the only reason this thread is bashing on Mario is because he’s got his name out the most/is a threat to the other parties. I’m pretty damn sure most of these comments are written by other party members. Let’s be real. Don’t take an anonymous commenter’s advice on what goes on behind student council doors. Ignore this shit and vote for whoever the fuck you wanna vote for.
@Anonymous haha, okay mario.
@kanye look, hey, ccsc, imma let you finish but i just wanna say student government sucks.
@I'm Me Screw this, I’m voting for my boy JIDE ADEBAYO!!!!!!
@Anonymous kinda disappointed mandelbaum didnt post the bold spice video in the newsletter….
@Anonymous listen like that would have been a dumb idea
@CC '13 LOL like student government does anything. JOKES.
@Yet another member of Council 2013 Feel free to track me, this is the only comment I’m making on this thread.
Look, it was pretty clear that Mario’s thought process went: I want to run for president, what should i do, i’ll volunteer to run a 2013 event. He did nothing first semester, and then latched onto this event as his springboard, knowing that he could send messages to CC 2013 attendees every single day as the \voice\ of the party, assuming that if the party was fun, he would get the credit.
I’m not sure how i want to react to it. Part of me thinks politics is dirty and current council members just let themselves get played by allowing him to run it. But the other part of me thinks that every single initiative the council undertook this year had people volunteer in a good faith manner that was honestly just so stuff could get done, and mario’s ulterior motives bother me somewhat.
However, the current council doesn’t have too much substance on whichto base a campaign saying they’re definitively better. they steered the ship and kept it from running aground, but we definitely didn’t explore new places.
I’m curious as to how to evaluate pete-ception, because i know they didn’t play dirty to get an edge, and they dont have the bland track record of current nominees. but some of Pete’s policy initiatives he obviously hasn’t researched; if he talked to anyone involved in policy he’d know intramural sports will never be given PE credit for some legitimate reasons.
Conclusion: i’m not sure how to feel about Mario playing the current council members. maybe it was just a shrewd political move. and the council doesn’t have too much to their name. but i understand exactly why current members would be upset, because they definitely were played. and pete-ception is this odd 3rd wheel that doesn’t have experience but also doesn’t feel grimy.
@Yet another member of Council 2013 Failed recaptcha so it put it down here, so i’m posting it above (where i intended it to go)
@Track Changes You’ll learn whose posting what.
Alex J, you’re better than this.
@Alex J. Track me and you’ll see what I’ve posted on this thread. I’m a lover not a hater!
@Anonymous To say that Mario did not have the largest role in the preparation and execution of CC’13 class event is to lie. Not only was he the primary negotiator with the boat company, he had oversight on nearly every detail. The truth is that the only reason that the event even took place was because Mario pushed for it through the meetings (when some other members of council were against the idea) and completely invested himself in its success. It may be true that Mario campaigned using his involvement in the boat party to his benefit, but he deserves to and would be foolish not to. Have you seen his videos? They’re fucking awesome. The man has worked hard for the last week, the last year as a council member, and will surely do a damn good job next year.
@Anonymous “Kudos to whoever got that done-and I don’t care how.” You really don’t know…CMONNNN
@Tracked! still at it? well I am too
I’m sure you were about to shower a bunch of praise on Mario for all of his efforts…
@Anonymous you’re actually just as annoying as everyone else
@anony whatever man, mario can do/say what he wants. i’m voting for justin yang regardless
@Anonymous How is the candidate promoting himself through a party he planned different from any other student council member promoting themselves through policies they passed, time they served, experience they have etc.? Just sounds like someone who took initiative is getting recognized and everybody who didn’t is feeling left out. Pretty petty if you ask me.
Also this conversation is exactly what’s wrong with student council. For every person that has NO IDEA who is their class council president, vp, or reps, all they care about is that their reps DELIVER when it’s time to step up to the plate. Student government isn’t some social club for you guys to gossip about who did what without who’s permission. Incumbent student council members can keep talking about internal bickering, but to me as a student, I DON’T care. We really need some fresh faces in the council if this is the stuff you guys worry about all day. The boat party was the only student council event i’ve been to and the same goes for a lot of my friends. Frankly, it was pretty fun! Kudos to whoever got that done-and I don’t care how. I just want MORE of that junior year.
@This entire comment thread is mostly three or four people…you know there is tracking right?
@New Anonymous Person I am really offended at the accusations you have made against me because I was at the 2013 debate and was not running for a 2013 position!
(true but kidding about the anger, guys, let’s relax).
@Anonymous Clearly: Mario is getting crap because he is black and has an attractive girlfriend
@lolololol all i have to say to this is LOL
@Anonymous these class council pics seem too contrived

@2014 I heard a fist fight broke out at 2014’s debate. Between the croatian and the kiwi. And alex rosen.
@Roko I won.
@Kiwi You wish, Croat!
@Anonymous Spec was there for the USenate debates
@a frustrated council member Again, Id like to note that the only people at the debate were candidates, so obviously whoever is posting here is trying to sway the campaign at the last minute by using “anonymous” posts. It is obvious who is posting what, and I find it kind of childish that everyone is being so catty anonymously. If you really knew how to handle things, you all would have brought these issues up before moratorium and during the debates. But instead you are approaching everything anonymously which is cowardly and a way to bend around the rules of campaigning.
@Anonymous says the “frustrated council member” posting anonymously
@Anonymous Its past the debate moratorium. If anyone reveals their identity and are supporters of one candidate or another they could get someone disqualified. I agree this whole thread is a bit through the grape vine but anonymity is the only safe way to be heard this way to elections.
@Tracked! Trollin’ the trolls
[and while I have no clue about how terrible Mario really was on sc, there’s a difference between anonymous bitching about someone specifically and anonymous bitching about overall bitching…to the uninformed reader you seem really catty]
@Anonymous it’ll be nice when this is all over and i don’t have to be asked at nose-lengths-distance whether i bought a ticket to the boat party yet
@Tracked! yeah I’m trolling the trolls…but we know you don’t like BOLD…or at least Mario. point taken
@Anonymous 1) From what I heard Mario promised not to run for president if the council chose to do the boat party and he could lead it… hm.
-also key to know that Mario did NOTHING for council first semester. he only became so active when elections were coming up.
2) Mario went behind the current president’s back to the adviser and tried to change things that the council decided on. Only when the adviser contacted the current president and make sure things really were going to change last minute did anyone find out.
3) All the adviser problems and SEAS dropping out were because of Mario.
hmm. sounds like he’d make a great president to me.
@Anonymous ur right, interesting timing on the boat party…heard that’s all he talked about at the debate too and couldn’t get many words out than just that “boat party” ….which is quite the regression from his patented and quite silver-tongued “yo you buy your ticket to the boat party yet”
@Anonymous you need to check your sources
@Tracked! well you’re a member of student council who doesn’t like Mario/how he goes about his business…we get it
@another member of student council 2013 it has been clear over the last few weeks that tensions are running high on our council and the boat party, which was supposed to be a class unifying event, turned into a council dividing one unfortunately. that being said, mario did lead the preparations for the boat party event over the course of the last month or more. it was certainly a team effort but he took charge with planning meetings, finding the boat, delegating tasks etc. the whole process could have been smoother though there were some big obstacles like our advisor who did more to hinder than to help the event. to accuse mario of stealing credit is taking it a bit far. he certainly used the boat party to enhance his campaign, but that was the mode that he used to get his name out to the rest of the class. can you really blame him?
@member of student council 2013 THANK GOD THE TRUTH CAME OUT. Dealing with Mario has been a living hell. He lies, goes behind people’s backs, and doesn’t understand how to interact with people. It got so bad that he would volunteer others for jobs…
Someone would send out an email “can anyone be here at 5?”
Mario would reply all with “oh _______ , you can do it. right?”
No one would stay on council if he is elected. Not to mention the fact that all the administration HATES him so he would never be able to accomplish anything.
@another member of student council this really was uncalled for. if you had issues you should have brought them up with him prior to this and shouldnt be slandering his name and his campaign in a public forum like this without ever giving him the opportunity to fix the issue. He may have been aggressive and assertive during the planning process but that is something that should have been addressed at the time if it was that big of a problem. Not after the fact. And not as a means of hurting his campaign. He put a lot of effort into the party and can be credited more than any other single individual. That isn’t to say he did it himself, but the party came very closet to being called off completely several times and both his effort and ability to delegate were crucial to the parties success. The way he led wasn’t perfect and may have been assertive but this is not how it should be brought up. Many have made the claim that he has taken an undue amount of credit but who on the council has given him credit the credit he deserves for his effort? I believe the way the current administration is handling it is very unprofessional and reflects poorly on their ability to handle issues within the class council. From what he said during the debate, Alex clearly had issues with the way Mario led the planning committee but, to my knowledge, they were never brought up with Mario and were certainly never brought up in council meetings. I’m not saying the way he ran things was perfect or that he should be given all of the credit for the parry’s success but the way this is being handled is completely unjustified.
@aaaand “another member of student council” = mario
@another member of student council 2013 This is a really accurate statement. Class of 2013 events are about producing an amazing event for the Class of 2013 not for individuals to use them as shameless self-promotion.
I’m not denying the hard work Mario did for the event. But it makes me really angry that he completely usurped the event as a publicity stunt for himself rather than underscoring the collaborative work that went into executing the party.
The fact is Mario really had no idea what he was doing in executing such a large-scale event. He was really friggin’ lucky that there was such hardworking council members to fix his mistakes and pratfalls when his high-flying ideas fell threw.
There’s no multiple analyses of what occurred. That’s the plain, straight truth. Period.
And, no, if he’s elected, I won’t be back.
@Yet another member of Council 2013 Feel free to track me, this is the only comment I’m making on this thread.

@Anonymous eleanor covered her face a couple of times during mario’s acerbic diatribes
@Anonymous haha story of eleanor’s life if they’re elected.
@Anonymous Fact: The only students who were present at this debate were the students who are running and the elections board moderators. No one from Spec or Bwog, just the people who want to win really badly.
@Anonymous Agreed. I heard Pete-ception stood their ground when challenged and that the president of 5 guys was quite eloquent.
I’d be happy with either. I just don’t want someone who the administration doesn’t enjoy working with because then we definitely have major problems.
CLASS OF 2013 ROCKS!
@Anonymous Pete-ception definitely had the most to say about real issues and there was a lot of tension in the room with Mario who seemed to have pissed a lot of people off on CCSC during the boat party planning this year.
It should be a good match.
@Tracked! we know you don’t want Mario…it doesn’t take three posts to say so
@Anonymous it seemed like the 5 guys and peteception parties handled themselves the best…the other two struggled to parlay anything of substance
@Anonymous Apparently, he said that Mario stole all the credit for the boat party and alienated the current administration because he was too forceful…
I don’t know how I feel about his ability to work with the administration now :/…
@Anonymous MARIO GOT PWNED BY THE CURRENT PREZ!
@Anonymous Alex Frouman is really the only qualified candidate for University Senate.
@really? He was opposed to gender neutral housing.
@Anonymous Maybe find out the whole story before commenting?
@Anonymous shit got so real at the class of ’13 debate
