Happy double-holiday, Columbians! With both Spring Break and St. Patrick’s Day on the horizon, it might be time to stock up for the weekend’s festivities with some tasty treats from the Columbia Greenmarket! What better way is there to recover from a green beer hangover than with some locally made deliciousness? As always, the greenmarket is open year-round on Sundays and Thursdays and accepts credit, debit, and EBT. There is food scrap collection for compost every Sunday, from 8am to 1 pm, and textile recycling every Sunday from 8am to 3pm.
Here are this week’s highlights:
- We are getting in the St. Patrick’s spirit at the market! Stop by the info tent around noon where we’ll be whipping up healthy, mean green juices with local kale, carrots, beets and apples.
- Our farmers and vendors will bring the spirit too. Meredith’s Breads has clover shaped sugar cookies (with green sprinkles, of course) and Hawthorne Valley is your stop to satisfy that sauerkraut craving…or prefer fresh? Gajeski Farm has green cabbage to boot. And not to forget, Stannard’s Farm has excellent pork sausages to make the meal complete.
