College Talks: Spring Edition

Now that the sun’s out and summer’s right around the corner, we took to the streets area between Butler and John Jay to ask people how they’re feeling. We observed the following general sentiment:

gpa and stuff

Watch the video for greater insight on this bittersweet phenomenon.

    @I'm sorry... Your independent and dependent variables are wrong.

      @Anonymous Unless you’re econ… in which case EVERYTHING is backwards.

    2. It doesn't matter... says:

      @It doesn't matter... … whether you put the IV on the x-axis or y-axis.

    @Broom I hate graph jokes.

  • LISTEN TO ME YOU FLESHY BAGS OF STUPIDITY!!! says:

    @LISTEN TO ME YOU FLESHY BAGS OF STUPIDITY!!! WELL HERE WE HAVE IT, BWOG, LIKE MOST OF COLUMBIA, IS RIDDLED WITH SCIENTIFICALLY ILLITERATE MORONS! FROSCI DID YOU NO GOOD.

    ACCORDING TO YOU FUCKING MORONS, AS MY GPA INCREASES THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE DECREASES. NOW THAT WOULD BE FUCKING AWESOME, BUT IT’S ENTIRELY WRONG.

    DO YOU EVEN PROOF READ, BRAH?

    SERIOUSLY, WTF!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!!?

    1. let me see says:

      @let me see that’s the point you stupid piece of s#$t

      1. LISTEN TO ME YOU FLESHY BACK OF SHIT AND STUPIDTY PERFECTLY BLENDED says:

        @LISTEN TO ME YOU FLESHY BACK OF SHIT AND STUPIDTY PERFECTLY BLENDED AHH, PROVING YOUR STUPIDITY. PEOPLE LIKE YOU MAKE ME WANT TO POUR SOY SAUCE IN MY EYES.

        Consider switching the y and x axes. As temperature increases, GPA decreases. The explanation being that as it gets nicer outside people will want to be outside, in turn sacrificing time studying, and in turn performing poorly on exams.

        THE ALTERNATIVE AND WHAT IS CURRENTLY STILL IN PLACE IMPLIES THAT BY SOME AMAZINGLY DIVINE PROVIDENCE, AS YOUR CLASS PERFORMANCE INCREASES, ZEUS AND/OR THOR GET REALLY FLUSTERED AND DECIDE TO MAKE IT COLD AND RAINY AND SHITTY.

        SHITTY, JUST LIKE YOUR BRAIN.

        1. Broom says:

          @Broom Despite how many uppercase letters you use, you actually don’t understand what you’re talking about.

          Either way the axes go, they don’t necessarily imply any causality. The x-axis is the variable you have direct control over and the y-axis is the one you are measuring. The graph is okay as is. You should be less self-confident.

        2. Anonymous says:

          @Anonymous Again, seriously…. take an econ class. Unless you’re going to try to tell me that you can’t manipulate quantity because price must be “divinely dictated by Zeus” or whatever, both x and y or just one or just the other can be dependent variables.

          1. Anonymous says:

            @Anonymous Econ isn’t a science.

          @Anonymous Also, here, have a snickers. Your hungry is showing.

    @Choppa Girl in the thumbnail is beautiful

  • derp says:

    @derp as gpa increases temperature decreases?

  • Anonymous says:

    @Anonymous “no, no what kind of question is that, NO”

    ughhh

  • Anonymous says:

    @Anonymous This is correct. Often the y-axis is considered “dependent” on the x-axis. But this is not necessarily the case.

  • Anonymous says:

    @Anonymous Econ isn’t a science. Who cares how you dumbasses fuck around with graphs?
