Columbia soccer battled Penn to a decisive tie on Saturday. The final score of the exhilarating contest was 0-0. Even though there weren’t any goals, the Lions displayed a lot of heart. They had an aggressive style of play, doubling up Penn in the fouls column, 20-10. In addition to the clear advantage in physicality, the Lions also had favorable matchup at goalkeeper. Penn managed to turn away all four of Columbia’s shots on goal, while the Lion goalie Kyle Jackson made six saves on the day including a sparkling diving stop on a penalty shot in double overtime. At the end of all 110 minutes, the game ended in a tie, preserving Columbia’s 0-0-2 undefeated record in the Ivy League.
