It has risen!

It has risen!

Barnard Bearoness Maddie Stearn is back to bring you news from Monday night’s SGA meeting, and much to the council’s chagrin, reports on free food (because that’s what’s really important, right?).

This week’s SGA meeting was double the excitement because the external portion was almost twice as long as usual. But with just cause, concerned citizens! There were amendments to be presented, subclauses to be debated, titles to be reconsidered, and merriment to be had by all.

Before the meeting even started this reporter was shocked to discover that people actually read the SGA articles! She did, however, feel a little abused at this week’s meeting, as Rep Council members seem to think that she is simply a vessel to print information about free food. Alas, dear Rep Council, this is not the case. (But yes, there is information about free food in the article…)

The majority of Monday’s SGA meeting was dedicated to amendment presentations and voting. There were seven amendments proposed, two of which were procedural changes. Three of the amendments were approved by the Rep Council and are now available for viewing on the SGA website. The rest of the student body will vote on these amendments when election voting opens on myBarnard (April 13-17).

In other news, the Barnard Bearoness proposed an amendment to procure a table for press and the Minutes-Taker (a grand total of 3 people). The amendment was not actually voiced to the Rep Council, but Minutes-Taker Felicia How and Spec Reporter Aubri Juhasz supported the Bearoness in her endeavors. This band of typing enthusiasts teamed up and quietly moved a table closer to the Rep Council, their aching wrists letting out a collective sigh of relief. The move appeared to have the support of the Rep Council, as SGA President Julia Qian turned around and looked surprised yet amused by the sudden appearance of a table.
