We’ve speculated about this before, but now it’s here: Maggie the Magnolia, beloved Barnard institution/inspiration, is finally moving to accommodate construction for a new learning center. The move, a dramatic shift of about thirty feet from her current location, is sure to be a traumatic one, so come out today to support Maggie in her time of need—she needs all the support she can get (although a special team of arborists seems to be tending to her every whim). Join your fellows on Monday, November 16 (today!) from 6 to 8 pm on Lehman Walk, where you can share memories of Maggie’s sass and warmth, enjoy hot chocolate, Insomnia, and s’mores, and watch performances by student groups. You know you need the emotional fortification.
The actual move will occur on Wednesday, November 18 from 11 am to 3 pm. Watch with bated breath from the “observation space” on second floor of Lehman Library as it all goes down, if you can handle it. There will be, appropriately enough, donated treats from Magnolia Bakery, as well as cider and donuts. Get excited, but also stay a little bit concerned!
