A few days ago Hillary Clinton rode the NYC subway. Like “any” “normal” “person”, she encountered a few setbacks on her journey–like needing to swipe her MetroCard 5 times at the turnstile. Sure, she looked a little like Jack Donaghy when he had bed bugs, but who are we to judge? We’re all just “average” people here! Authenticity!
Proving once again that the people running Hillary’s campaign are actually pretty chill, Clinton’s official campaign site has a new 404 error page that includes a gif of the candidate trying (failing) to swipe her MetroCard. In other news, Time magazine is also trying to be Buzzfeed?
Even if other people weren’t impressed by Hillary’s subway ride, something about her experience rang true for us here at Bwog. She reminded us of the hopeless Columbia souls who still can’t figure out how to properly swipe their CUIDs. Nevermind that they’ve been on this campus for anywhere from one to four years, they just can’t get it together.
In a gesture of solidarity, we photoshopped Hillary into the various complex swiping situations that CU students encounter every day. She can normal like the best of us!
- Location #1: Butler Library – She’s a bit flummoxed by the card reader at Butler. Where is the swiping thing? Why is there a red light? Is there a button to push?
- Location #2: Lerner Hall (Campus Level) – “Excuse me? Excuse me! It won’t work that way…The other side…No, like go around…No, the other side…You have to be over here…”
- Location #3: Lerner Hall (Broadway Side) – You literally cannot walk that way. You need to turn around.
- Location #4: The Heyman Center/East Campus – Ok there’s a clear solution here and this is not it.
- Location #5: NoCo Library – She might figure it out
