Happening in the world: The Australian state of New South Wales is officially free of bushfires after 240 days. The bushfires had caused at least 28 people deaths, destroyed 3,000 homes and affected up to a billion animals (CNN).

Happening in the US: A tornado system cut through Tennessee killing 25 and leaving multiple buildings destroyed (NYT).

Happening in New York City: Andrew Yang said in a Buzzfeed interview that he is “looking at” a possible run for mayor of New York City (The Hill).

Happening on campus: This Friday from 3 pm to 4 pm, Sanna Marin, Prime Minister of the Republic of Finland, will deliver a talk titled: “The Climate Neutral Welfare Society: Is it the Model of the Future?” Find more info here.
