An anonymous Bwogger received a scandalous message in the unlikeliest of places…

I just want to preface this article by establishing that I just made my LinkedIn account– that this is a fairly new platform for me. I rarely receive messages on platforms like Instagram, so it was shocking to see that someone had messaged me via LinkedIn, a platform that I thought was meant for professional use and business connections.

I opened the message, assuming it would be spam from a large company. However, to my surprise, it was not. This message happened to be personalized and included a GIF. WOW…a special message just for me? I began to further inspect the direct message and realized that it had been sent from someone I knew.

This got me thinking. Why would someone reach out over LinkedIn as opposed to literally ANY other platform? And did that just really happen? When had it become socially acceptable to pursue your love life on LinkedIn? Or had this been socially acceptable all along? Is this what love in the 21st-century had become?

I re-read the message and re-watched the GIF. I don’t want to reveal the message, however, I do feel like I owe you all a little bit more information so that you can better understand my situation…so here it is…a description of the GIF.  The GIF included a man with a backward baseball cap saying “what it do baybee.” Now I am not extremely involved in meme culture, so that may have been a very current and cool reference to make BUT it left me feeling even more confused. I–

That’s currently where I’m at.

Note: The John Mulaney picture and quote clearly conveyed my emotions, however, please do practice social distancing– do not “walk up and say hello” until quarantine is over!
