She helped make Barnard traditions happen!

Name, School, Major, Hometown:
Claudia Chung, Barnard, Political Science, Berkeley, CA.

Claim to fame:
Barnard McAC President

Where are you going?
Downtown!

What are 3 things you learned at Columbia and would like to share with the Class of 2024?

  1. New York has so much to offer and you better have a massive list of restaurants, museums, neighborhoods, etc that you want to explore. Homework and meetings will NOT sustain you—trust me when I say this.
  2. Make sure to build in time to grab dinner or meet up with your friends as much as possible! You’ll be shocked by how easily time can disappear and how much time has passed since you last saw someone.
  3. Make yourself a spreadsheet of the classes you’ve taken, want to take, and what requirements they fulfill. You’ll thank yourself later when you have to fight the Registrar and when you can’t remember that really cool class you heard about that one time.

“Back in my day…”
Milstein (and Peets) was a massive hole in the ground

Favorite Columbia controversy?
DSpar cutting her contract

What was your favorite class at Columbia?
Pretty much any class by American Politics professors at Barnard and Mark Carnes’s US 1945-1975.

Would you rather give up oral sex or cheese?
I’m in a long-distance relationship and I’m lactose intolerant, so I have no answer here.

Whom would you like to thank?
I’d like to thank my family, friends, McAC board, club volleyball team, CPMCTL, and Professor Krimmel, my advisor.

One thing to do before graduating:
Spend your time responsibly of course, but prioritize time with your friends, exploring the city, and tanning on Low.

Any regrets?
Not appreciating time I had with my friends, especially now that we’re all apart :(
