Happening in the World: In Hong Kong, a kindergarten teacher, Wang, has just been sentenced to the death penalty for poisoning the lunch of 25 school children leading to the death of one of them. Wang purchased nitrite on the internet and used it to lace the children’s porridge in hopes of getting them to behave (CNN).
Happening in the US: In California, Governor Gavin Newsom approved of the Home for Homeowners- Not Corporations Bill (SB 1079). This bill will make it easier for Californians to purchase homes by preventing large corporations from acquiring multiple homes during foreclosure actions (Mercury News).
Happening in NYC: Governor Andrew Cuomo has extended the deadline protecting workers and tenants from eviction to January of 2021. He states that until he pronounces that the pandemic is over, he will continue to ensure that New Yorkers have the means to support themselves and their families (NBC New York).
