Weekly Roundup of how COVID is progressing at the Columbia community.
This week, there were 8672 tests conducted with 21 tests coming back positive for a 0.24% positivity rate. The positivity rate is down from 0.31% last week. There were 2580 more tests conducted this week compared to last week. 41 people are in isolation, 40 in quarantine, and 1 is hospitalized. This week’s positivity rate is lower than the cumulative positivity rate (0.41%).
Of the 6871 tests done at the Morningside, Manhattanville, and Lamont-Doherty campuses, 0.16% of students are positive, and 0.39% of faculty and staff are positive. Of the 1081 tests done at the CUIMC campus, 0% of students are positive and 0.73% of faculty and staff are positive.
Since June 22, 2020, Columbia has conducted 150,248 tests with 610 being positive for a 0.41% cumulative positivity rate.
This week, there were 2760 tests conducted with 4 tests coming back positive for a 0.12% positivity rate. The positivity rate is up from 0.08% last week. There were 154 more tests conducted this week compared to last week. 7 people are in isolation and 36 are in quarantine.
Since August 8th, 2020, Barnard has conducted 25,873 tests with 60 being positive for a 0.23% cumulative positivity rate. Since January 8th, 2021, there have been 19 positive tests.
Bars, restaurants, and fitness centers are to close from 10 pm to 5 am everyday. Last week on Friday, February 12, 2021, restaurants and bars were allowed to reopen indoor dining at 25% capacity, but are still expected to close from 10 PM to 5 AM daily. Takeout (except alcoholic beverages) is allowed past 10 PM. Middle schools in NYC will reopen while high schools will remain remote until further notice. Currently New Yorkers are expected to maintain 6 feet of distance, or wear a face covering/ mask when this is not possible, like on public transportation. As of Friday, November 13th, private indoor and or outdoor gatherings of 10+ people are not allowed.
According to the New York Times, there were 3628 new cases of COVID in New York City with a -24% change in COVID cases in the past 2 weeks.
New York is currently in phase 1A and 1B of the vaccine rollout. As of February 16th, 2021 at 9:30 AM, 411,706 New Yorkers are partially vaccinated and 303,709 are fully vaccinated.
