Happening in the World: Colombia’s most-wanted drug lord, Dairo Antonio Úsuga, has been captured. Úsuga was the leader of Colombia’s most powerful criminal organization for 10 years. He was indicted in the US in 2009 and could face extradition and subsequent criminal proceedings in New York (BBC).
Happening in the US: The Atlanta Braves will be competing in the World Series after beating the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-2. The Braves will face the Houston Astros over the course of seven World Series games (BBC).
Happening in NYC: Early voting for the election that will decide New York City’s next mayor started yesterday. This election will also include voting for NYC Comptroller, Public Advocate, City Council, and the five borough presidents. Early voting ends on October 31 (Gothamist).
