Happening in the World: A mysterious art installation has been erected in the middle of St. Petersburg. Underscoring the anti-West defiance stirring in Russia, the installation reads “ZAMESTIM” (“We will replace”). In light of the ever-growing exodus out of the Kremlin state by various brands and companies, the composition includes signs of brands Zara, Adidas, McDonald’s, Epson, Skoda, Titalenergies, IKEA and MilkyWay. No artist or entity has claimed the artwork as of yet. (BBC)
Happening in the US: The Premier of the British Virgin Islands has been arrested in Miami on charges of drug trafficking and money laundering. Andrew Fahie, who was elected head of government of the territory in 2019, was detained at the Miami Opa-Locka Executive Airport in a stint set up by the DEA. Fahie, in conjunction with his associates, is currently suspected of agreeing to help an informant posing as a member of the Sinaloa cartel to move cocaine shipments through the BVI. (CNN)
Happening in NYC: Sweating on your Citi Bike? Not anymore! Citi Bike will introduce it’s new pedal-assist model next week. Arriving in docking stations all over the city, the battery-powered bicycles can be spotted by their new off-white exterior. While the arrival electric City Bikes is no novel news, the company has said that they have factored in significant improvements in the creation of the new model. (Gothamist)
