Happening in the World: Far-right politician Giorgia Meloni formally accepted the job as Italian Prime Minister. Happening in the US: The Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals issued a temporary block on President Biden’s student loan forgiveness plan as the court considers an appeal from six Republican-led states. There is a tight window for the Biden Administration, as federal student loan payments are set to resume on January 1 after being delayed during the pandemic. (AP)
Happening in NYC: Drama between a NYC restaurateur and comedian James Corden continues to play out in national headlines. Earlier this week, Keith McNally, owner of Balthazar in SoHo, made a scathing Instagram post accusing Corden of being “the most abusive customer to [the] Balthazar servers since the restaurant opened 25 years ago.” McNally said he banned Corden for his behavior, but later “unbanned” him after Cordon “apologized profusely.” However, McNally is again firing criticism after Cordon, in an interview with the New York Times, seemed to backtrack his apology. “I wish James Corden would live up to his Almighty initials and come clean. If the supremely talented actor wants to retrieve the respect he had from all his fans (all 4 of them) before this incident, then he should at least admit he did wrong,” McNally said. (Insider)
