Maybe this is your chance to have a pet hippo, from Pablo Escobar no less.

Happening in the World: Pablo Escobar, the drug lord shot dead by police in 1993, illegally imported many exotic animals, including around 70 hippos that now roam free in Colombia. A $3.5 million plan has just been released to relocate these hippos, believed to be the largest herd outside of Africa, to sanctuaries around the world. Relocations will happen in the coming months with 10 hippos going to Mexico and 60 going to India. (BBC)

Happening in the US: Early this morning, a train carrying ethanol derailed and caught fire in Raymond Minnesota, causing evacuations around the crash site. No injuries or fatalities have been reported, though it is still unclear what caused the crash. The site remains active and the fire is being contained. (NBC)

Happening in NYC: Mayor Eric Adams is asking for your help in naming a new hybrid ferry that will service from Lower Manhattan to Governors Island. This will be the city’s first hybrid-electric vessel and will be able to carry up to 1,200 passengers at a time. You have until May 25 to submit names online. (Gothamist)
