And the Barnard Mailroom loves me too.

Over the past few weeks, I have had the delight (she said sarcastically) of receiving about a billion packages in my mailbox. Now, I bet you’re wondering how I got myself into this situation. Well, I’m producing the Columbia Musical Theatre Society’s production of Legally Blonde and that means that every costume, prop, and set piece was mailed directly to me.

I wouldn’t call this a dream situation.

Within a few days of placing the giant order, I received like 20 emails from the mailroom telling me to come pick everything up. Upon my arrival at the mailroom, I gave them my mailbox number and warned them that it was gonna be “a lot” when, from the back of the mailroom, a man stood up and said, “Ms. Towne?”

I said that that was me! He then told me that he was astonished and didn’t think that anyone had ever gotten that many packages in one go. You heard that right, folks. I am currently a record holder in the Barnard mailroom.

But what was most appreciated was just how much the mailroom employees hyped me up. They said that I should also get writer and director credits on the program for having to deal with all of the boxes. Yeah, I should!

As the days progressed and I continued to pick up package after package, I was frequently referred to as “Legally Blonde” by mailroom employees, a nickname I take with honor. They would even check in items early for me to save me an extra trip or take packages out of the lockers so I wouldn’t have to worry about hunting them down as I lugged a cartful of boxes to my suite.

So, suffice it to say that the Barnard Mailroom is getting an extra special thanks in the program.

Oh, and if any Bwog readers or mailroom employees are super interested in seeing what was inside the dozens of boxes, you can very conveniently get your tickets here!
