Film Screening: From Abdul To Leila

- The latest screening in a series of documentaries on the theme of “In the Middle: Women Documenting Arab Struggles,” From Abdul To Leila depicts how Leila Albayaty, a young French-Iraqi multidisciplinary artist suffering from amnesia after an accident, reconstructs her history by reconnecting with her family and her roots. This event is co-sponsored by Maison Française, the Center for Palestine Studies, MESAAS, and the Middle East Institute at Columbia University.

- CU Players presents Paula Vogel’s Indecent, telling the story of the first kiss between two women on a Broadway stage and the people who lived and died for it. This production reframes the play through the lens of a drama troupe performing this story from within the Lodz Ghetto in Nazi-occupied Poland.
- Friday, March 28, 7:30 pm, and Saturday, March 29, 2 pm and 7:30 pm, Glicker-Milstein Theater
- CU Players presents Sophie Treadwell’s play about a young woman pushed to her breaking point by a relentlessly mechanical world. The play is based on the 1927 murder of Judd Gray by his wife, Ruth Snyder.
Barnard Dance Senior Creative Thesis Concert
- Friday, March 28, and Saturday, March 29, 6 pm, Minor Latham Playhouse
- The Barnard Dance Department presents the creative thesis works of this year’s senior class. Fifteen seniors will perform works choreographed by themselves or outside choreographers.
- Saturday, March 29, 6 pm, Roone Auditorium
- Columbia Bhangra invites Bhangra teams from all over the country to Columbia for an evening of dance! Bhangra is a Punjabi folk dance form, and the show promises to be full of “color, energy, and excitement.”
- Sunday, March 30, 12 pm, Roone Auditorium
- The 14th annual Festival of Winds is an all-day concert hosted by the Columbia University Wind Ensemble and features performances by the Columbia Pep Band, Mariachi Leones de Columbia, and Kings County Concert Band.
