Bwog says get vaccinated! Editor’s warning: mentions of death.
Happening off-Campus: 150 unvaccinated schoolchildren are being quarantined in light of a measles outbreak in South Carolina. With eight confirmed cases in the northern side of the state, students who have not received immunizations must stay home during the 21-day period of potential disease transmission. South Carolina’s surge in cases follows similar outbreaks in New Mexico and Texas, where hundreds of infections led to three deaths earlier this year. (BBC)
Happening near Campus: Broadway musicians voted in favor of authorizing a strike on Sunday night. The demands of the musicians, who have been working without a contract since August 31, include higher wages, better health care, and layoff protections. In addition to musicians, Broadway performers and stage managers are considering a strike after the Broadway League stalled talks with the Actor’s Equity Association over health care. Talks will be resumed later this week. (Gothamist)
Happening on-Campus: Columbia health is hosted a walk-in flu clinic in the Lerner Auditorium today, with no registration required! Barnard and CUIMC are not eligible.
