Happening off-Campus: President Claudia Sheinbaum of Mexico signed a bill on Wednesday, October 14 to ban violent and sexual content for children on social media. This decree will require social media platforms to verify users’ ages and provide ways for users to report inappropriate content, and will take effect in one month. This news comes as multiple countries have set even stricter boundaries for children on social media, including a total ban on accounts for children under a certain age in Australia, the UK, and France. Happening near Campus: Bills for National Grid customers in parts of Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island can expect their gas bill to go up by an average of $87 over five months. This increase comes not as a result of gas prices, which are actually lower this year, but rather due to delivery costs. (Gothamist)

Happening on Campus: Today from 12:30 to 2 pm at Casa Hispanica, the Institute for Religion, Culture and Public Life is hosting a speaking event titled “Interfaith Dialogue in Theory and Practice.” Speakers include Mark Fowler and Heather Miller Rubens. More information here.
