Macklemore says peace
Well, this seems unfortunate. According to The Williams Record, (most definitely not a Columbia source, interestingly enough) the man who may have been (may still be) this year’s Bacchanal performer has cancelled his show in Williamstown—and his performance at Columbia. Bacchanal declined to comment on the report. The article text below tells the sad story, and why Macklemore supposedly dumped us: for greener pastures and the adoration of preteens.
”Yesterday Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, the act intended to headline the College’s spring fling, called off their agreement to perform in Williamstown on April 14. Acting within the rights of their contracts, the duo canceled their performances both at the College and at Columbia (scheduled for April 13) in order to perform on MTV. ”

Why the fuck do we fail to receive the same level of transparency and communication from Bacchanal Events? As the people who will be attending the event, are we not owed a simple explanation of what happened from the event organizers? If anyone from Bacchanal is reading this, please know that had you notified the student body of the unfortunate situation (as that Ben Lamb guy did), the impending backlash from the students would not be nearly as harsh. However, since we all had to hear the news from Bwog and Spec, you will feel the full force of Columbia pissiness. Winter is coming, Bacchanal.

@you're a dumbass Columbia has a free, open campus show. Bacchanal does not keep it a secret for hype, they know the student body will come out for the show regardless. It protects the artist’s ticket sales for other shows as well as the campus (NYPD had to be called in to limit access when half of NYC showed up for the Kanye show years back).

@eh just because it’s not a great source, they’re telling us what they know. They tried to get information from the source but the Bacchanal committee declined to comment. At least they’re giving us something, even if it’s not definite. It’s more than any other campus news source has done for us.

@Anonymous I think the “worst staff in history” references the post where Bwog made fun of Bacchanal for declining coverage because of a Bwog post that was “light-hearted and “clearly speculative” and just a teaser, when it turned out to be the real thing. And possibly the reason Macklemore cancelled.
