These are foils
You may know Columbia has a pretty freaking baller fencing team, with four alums and students competing at the last Olympics, but you may not know that this week they had more success in the name of America. While you were complaining about midterms, Nzingha Prescod, CC’15, Margaret Lu, CC’16, and Nicole Ross, CC’12, were out in Germany competing in the Tauberbischofsheim World Cup.
The girls helped bring home “the best finish for the [US woman’s foil] squad since 2007,” coming in fourth. They went up against the Korean team in quarterfinals, where Lu came out on top of a vicious 15-14 battle. In the semifinals the team faced Russia, who got silver at the Olympics, and Prescod got an impressive six touches on the individual gold winner. Finally, in the bronze medal match against France, Ross beat the 2010 Junior World medalist.

@T Just wondering, but did Nzingha compete this year? Was looking at the First/Second Team All-Ivy awards and her name wasn’t there?
@Anonymous Pretty sure she’s spending her time training on her own and going to international/Olympic qualifying events
@jks Nzingha was 1st team All-Ivy, but she (and Margaret) will not be going to NCAAs due to international conflicts.

@Fencer Nzingha did compete this year. She was First-Team All-Ivy, as were Margaret and Jackie and Lydia. It’s on the Ivy League Sports website.
