All Weekend

• Remember this controversy?  Well if you’re a self-identified woman of color, auditions for Barnard-Columbia V-Day’s Vagina Monologues start today.  Tonight they’re in Pupin 414 from 8-11pm, Thursday Diana 502 9-midnight, and Friday Hamilton 316 5-8pm.  Check the facebook event for more information.
• The Harlem Art Walk Tour is happening this weekend Saturday and Sunday from noon until six at over sixty venues in Harlem.  The information hub will be at the Casa Frela Gallery, 47 W. 119th St.  Here you’ll get guidebooks and information about the various locations.  All the galleries will be FREE, and it’s a great chance to go see some art without having to go all the way to the Met.
• There’s a new musical on Broadway this week, playing at the Neil Simon Theatre and full of big names:  Big Fish.  While this show doesn’t yet have discounted tickets via TIC, be on the lookout!
• The final weekend of the 51st New York Film Festival is this weekend at Lincoln Center.  Tickets for each film are only $15.

Thursday

• Nonsequitur’s fall study break is happening, and it’s space themed.  Come to Lerner Party Space to experience  Nonsequiterrestrial; hear some a capella from Nonsequitur and NYU’s APC Rythm.  7:30pm, and free.
• Starting at 1pm, Brooklyn artist Raphael Vargas-Suarez will be turning the lobby of Miller Theatre into a giant piece of art “in which abstract geometric marks suggest notes on a musician’s staff paper.”  Sounds just crazy enough to stop by and see, whether in process Thursday or any time before Miller Theatre’s season ends in May.  Free, of course.
• Miller Theatre’s Composer Portrait Series is opening this thursday at 8pm with a tribute to George Friedrich Haas.  The man himself will even be there for an onstage discussion.  Only $7 for students (with a CUID).

Friday

• Columbia University Gospel Choir and Band’s Midsemester Concert is Friday, October 11 at 7pm, Lerner 555.  Admission is free, but you must have gotten the “ticket” from TIC in order to get in.  But there will be snacks, allegedly.

Saturday

•  Miller Theatre’s Jazz Series also opens this weekend with the Anat Cohen Quartet at 8pm.  Tickets for Columbia students are $7 with CUID.
