ESC is back and the same as ever, with a strangely authoritative twist!
ESC welcomed back students back by going through a few housecleaning items. They went over Just Desserts (Bwog is assuming this is a desserts event) and encouraged representatives to invite junior and sophomores to the event. ESC reminded their representative council that they all participate in Facebook blasting when requested by reps, which apparently means representatives sit in silence on the livestream and share Facebook events for each other.
ESC rolled out something revolutionary last night as well: an online suggestion box! While one rep confused about whether this would be the primary method of addressing grievances, this form would be a “pipeline” way of gathering constituents’ issues, as it would be released within the weekly ESC newsletter. The forms could also be anonymous and would offer follow-ups, if the suggester opted into it.
Then, ESC painstakingly talked through the organization of their Google Drive. You would think they would have a Slack to quickly announce this in, or maybe some internal portion of their meetings to discuss issues which only pertain to them. None? Okay.
On a more important note, ESC might have accidentally let slip that Bacchanal will now have more surveillance by the undergraduate student councils, or as they like to call it “governance.” This seems like a drastic overreaction to people’s dissatisfaction with an all woman, extremely talented, and well-decorated (SOPHIE is a Grammy-nominated artist and I will never let it go) lineup.
ESC ended the meeting by encouraging students to apply for the Peer Mentorship program!
