Happening in the World: Off the coast of Greenland, a 30-meter ship has collided with a reef and sunk. All four of the ship’s crew members were safely evacuated. Protective barriers were placed in the water where the collision occurred, as the ship was carrying 15,000 to 20,000 liters of diesel and 1,000 liters of engine oil. (Reuters)
Happening in the US: Following the Federal Reserve’s interest cut, Joe Biden is expected to laud progress in expanding employment and bringing down inflation. Although many believed inflation would not drop without a recession, Biden committed to expanding domestic manufacturing, capping drug costs, and clean energy, proving many economists wrong. Biden will use an event at the Economic Club of Washington for his victory lap. (Reuters)
Happening in NYC: Mayor Eric Adams takes a stand against rats at the annual Rat Summit held at Pier 57 in Chelsea. Adams stated, “I don’t think there’s been a mayor in history that says how much he hates rats,” and then said, “I dislike rats.” The Rat Summit featured many experts across the field giving presentations about how best to control rats, and other useful information. Happening in Our Community: Dodge Hall is currently hosting an exhibit featuring the work of Heidi Howard. The theme of the exhibit is color, and it features observational paintings and self-portraits referencing the work of Matisse and Warhol, among others. The exhibit will remain in Dodge until October 10.
