Happening in the World: Today, diplomats from Russia and the United States met in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to negotiate terms for ending the war in Ukraine. The meeting was attended by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, and no Ukrainian officials were present. Three goals were addressed: to restore staffing at the embassies in Washington D.C. and Moscow, to create a team for peace talks with Ukraine, and to discuss economic cooperation between the US and Russia. Kyiv was also notably absent, and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine won’t accept any outcome from the negotiations without Kyiv’s participation. While today’s meeting was meant to establish a line for further negotiations between President Donald Trump and President Vladamir Putin, no future date has been set. (AP)
