Breaking into Wall Street: Inside the World of Finance
- Wednesday, November 12, 8 pm, 315 Hamilton Hall.
- A workshop on the finance industry that will provide information on recruiting for internships, getting a return offer, day-to-day life in finance, showcase different career paths within the industry, and provide a case study. The event is hosted by ALPFA, the Association of Latino Professionals For America, and is part of their Breaking into the Industry series which provides career exploration and preparation for different industries.

Descartes: A Great Books in Context Lecture
- Monday, November 10, 6 to 7 pm, Buell Hall East Gallery.
- Students are often taught that Rene Descartes is the father of modern philosophy, who invented the modern individual, with a deceiving demon who may manipulate his perceptions. In this lecture, however, Professor of Philosophy Christia Mercer argues that this story is untrue, and will discuss the women who helped create Descartes’ demon thought experiment.

Political Analytics: Insights from the 2025 Election
- Thursday, November 13, 4 to 6 pm, 203 Butler Library.
- This event, sponsored by the Columbia University Political Analytics program, will explore the results from the gubernatorial elections in Virginia and New Jersey, special congressional elections, and the New York City mayoral election. Speakers will focus on the performance of polls and analytical models and how the outcome of these elections show shifts in the preferences of voters.

- Thursday, November 13, 4 to 6 pm, 1512 International Affairs Building.
- Established in 2008, this annual lecture at the Saltzman Institute for War and Peace Studies focuses on the field of international relations. This year’s speaker is Janice Stein, Professor of Conflict Management and Negotiation at the University of Toronto. Stein’s lecture “will argue that nuclear weapons do not prevent limited attacks against homeland territory below the threshold of invasion.”

Trans Awareness Week Keynote with J. Harrison Ghee
- Thursday, November 13, 6 to 8 pm, 555 Lerner Hall.
- Sponsored by Multicultural Affairs and LGBTQ@Columbia, this event is the opening celebration of Trans Awareness Week. Presenting the keynote speech is J. Harrison Ghee, a nonbinary actor and Tony Award and Grammy Award winner. Ghee originated the role of Daphne/Jerry in Some Like It Hot, and has had other roles as Lola in Kinky Boots and Andre Mayhem in Mrs. Doubtfire. On television, Ghee has acted in Accused, Raising Dion, and High Maintenance.
