The Center for Brooklyn History has found a framed lock of Alexander Hamilton’s hair, among other unique items, in its collection.

Happening off-Campus: Today, a crane placed the upper arm of a cross atop the Sagrada Familia, bringing the Gothic masterpiece of the late Antoni Gaudí to its maximum height of 172.5 meters (566 feet). With this addition, the 144-year-old basilica, current holder of both the world’s tallest and the world’s largest church titles, is one step closer to completion (AP).

Happening near Campus: While cataloguing more than 11,000 objects in its collection, The Center for Brooklyn History has discovered several one-of-a-kind pieces, from a wax head from the “World in Wax Musée” at Coney Island to a campaign badge from Brooklyn’s final mayor, and even a framed lock of Alexander Hamilton’s hair. By carefully examining, measuring, and logging these items into a database, the Center hopes to be able to launch a searchable, digital catalogue of its collection open to the public this spring (Gothamist).

Happening on Campus: Today from 3 to 6:30 pm in the LenFest Center for the Arts, practitioners Marlon “Unlearn the World” Richardson, Manny Faces, and RMS will lead three presentations, a panel discussion, and a Q&A, all about how Hip Hop breaks down academic silos and bridges sociology, education, and cultures.
