Your goal for the semester was to really get out there and explore more of New York City. Well, now those readings have kicked in and you’ve got a little less time to spare. Thursday

Ethnographic Exhibitionism, 6 pm in 930 Schermerhorn.
A talk with Alys George of NYU, focusing on performance culture, body history, and dance: The Body as Spectacle and Science in Vienna 1900. Free.

Bach and the Romantics, 8 pm in Miller Theatre.
Best known for her inspired recording of Bach’s Goldberg Variations, Brooklyn-based pianist Simone Dinnerstein offers selections from her forthcoming CD in this first solo recital at Miller, again breathing fresh air into the music of Bach. Tickets $7 from the TIC, more details.

Saturday

Culture Shock: Evolution, 7 pm – 10 pm in Roone.
Each year, cultureSHOCK explores pertinent questions about the Asian American experience through the performing arts. It is a stage for the voice of rising talent within our community, whose backgrounds resonate through song, poetry, dance, and other expressive means. Performances from Mitchell Grey, Brownstar Revolution and others. $10 from Tic, including food, more details.

Aspects of Orpheus: The Gaze, 4 pm 7 pm in Sulzberger Parlor (Barnard)
Senior Recital by Holly Druckman, including performances of music by Debussy, Monteverdi, Gluck, Schumann, and Stravinsky. Followed by a light reception. Free.

Tuesday

Jennifer Egan: Rewiring the Real, 6.30 pm – 8 pm in IAB 1501.
Part of a yearlong series of conversations with writers about the interplay of literature, technology and religion. Jennifer Egan is the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of A Visit From the Goon Squad, Look at Me and The Keep. Moderated by Willing Davidson, fiction editor of The New Yorker. Free.

Musical Experiments, 6 pm in Miller Theatre.
The first of Miller’s Pop-up Concert series. Free beer, on-stage seating and relaxed vibe all around. Listen to contemporary classical in a new way, performed by the JACK quartet and Ensemble Signal. Free.
