A mother escorting her teenaged daughter on a stroll down College Walk.
Mother: “Over there is Hamilton—it’s a classroom building. And that’s Butler, the big library.”
Daughter: “What’s that?” (points to sundial; they stop)
Mother: “That’s where I first met Dad.”

@Melissa Professor Debary thank you for sharing that story. Ditto Varun, thanks Bwog for the cute story!
@That's sweet I met my first gf right at the Sundial (she was sitting with friends), and we dated for a couple of years. She was hoping to run into her ex that day but, instead, I came along.
@Cynic I love her, I always will. I don’t care. I love you.

@Professor DeBary: “I try to find books that are affordable, because when I was a Columbia student (in the forties), I was never able to purchase a single book for my classes. I only bought one book my entire time as an undergraduate. It was a book of Shakespeare’s sonnets and I gave it to my Barnard sweetheart…Well, it paid off because two years later we were married and remained so for sixty years until she passed away last May.”
And then he teared up.
And I melted.
@wow that is really sweet!
@tear good share. good. fucking. share.
@Professor DeBary: Last semester, he talked about his wife briefly (I can’t remember why it came up) and after tearing up, he said: “I lost her last May, but she’s always by my heart.” At which point he opened up the two top buttons on his shirt and pulled out his necklace, on which was her wedding band. His remains on his left hand.
